Burning Nest
A say in how this runs

Become a member of Burning Nest Ltd

Membership isn't a ticket or a status thing - it's becoming involved in the way the org is governed and managed. Members are the people who legally own Burning Nest and decide how it's run. It's free, it's for the life of the burn, and it's entirely your choice. The only catch is if the event is forced to wind up, you are financially liable for Β£1.

First β€” let's untangle three things people mix up

They sound similar but they're completely separate. Only one of them is membership.

Want to come to the burn?

That's a ticket, a separate thing entirely. You don't need to be a member to buy one, and being a member doesn't get you one.

Want to help build it?

That's volunteering or joining a camp. It's separate too, and just as welcome. You can do all of it without ever becoming a member.

Want a say in how it's run?

That's membership, and it's what this page is about. You get a vote on big decisions and a hand in steering Burning Nest Ltd. Read on before you decide.

Questions people ask

Fundamentals of Burning Nest Membership

Do I need to be a member to come to the burn?

No. Tickets and membership are completely separate. Plenty of people come every year and never become members, and that's totally fine.

Will it cost me anything?

No. Membership is free, with no dues. The only money ever attached to it is the Β£1 guarantee, and that only bites in the unlikely event the company is wound up owing money.

Do I have to renew?

We'll send you a friendly nudge when it's time, and renewing is one click. If you'd rather step back, you can leave any time. No hard feelings.

Can I change my mind?

Of course. You can resign whenever you like from your account. The Β£1 guarantee tails off a year after you leave, and then you're fully out.

Why are you creating memberships?

We want to encourage people to have their say & get involved in running Nest in the future. Board members also want to be able to retire from the board at some point & know that there’s a pathway for others to take up the mantle & keep Nest going. A key thing for us is to make it possible for new people with new ideas to be able to join the Board, not just people who we happen to know. This seems to be the best, most open way we can achieve that.
