Your waste at Nest

Anyone

Take your rubbish home, bring your recycling clean, and leave the glass at home.

Nest runs on self-reliance, and that includes rubbish. There are no general waste bins for attendees: whatever you bring in, you take home with you.

We do run recycling and compost at the PEEPS (the Planet, Environment and Ecosystem Preservation Station), until the bins are full.

Can't take your rubbish home? If you couldn't come to Nest without help with your waste, email lbt@burningnest.co.uk before the event and we'll talk it through. We can only help if it's arranged in advance.

Before you leave home

  • Take off extra packaging. Less packaging on site means less to carry out.
  • Decant anything in glass into plastic or metal containers.
  • Bring clear bin bags for your recycling, and keep paper and cardboard in a separate one.
  • Bring enough bags for all your general waste, and room in the car to take it home.

Recycling at the PEEPS

  1. Come between 11am and 3pm The PEEPS is staffed every day during those hours. Volunteers will show you what goes where.
  2. One bag per person per day In a clear bag, with paper and cardboard kept separate.
  3. Make sure it's clean and dry There are wash stations if something still has food on it.
  4. Out of hours, use the PEEP holes They take small amounts of loose recycling. Don't leave bags beside them.

One dirty item spoils the whole bin. The recycling company won't take contaminated recycling. If they find food, grease or the wrong materials, the whole bin goes to general waste, and we pay extra or get fined.

Glass

Please don't bring glass. It's a safety risk and there's no glass recycling for attendees. Keep personal glass out of the event areas (bar donations are the exception), and take any glass you do bring home with you.

If something breaks, there's a bin for broken glass outside the PEEPS.
