Theme camp agreement

Anyone

What every theme camp agrees to with Burning Nest Ltd: your responsibilities, and what Nest does in return.

Every theme camp at Nest signs this agreement with Burning Nest Ltd, and taking part as a camp depends on keeping to it.

A theme camp is a group of participants who come together to gift a space, service or activity to everyone else at Nest. Camp members aren't employees or contractors of Burning Nest Ltd.

Your camp must

Must
Follow any requirements from Teignbridge District Council, the Health and Safety Executive, the site owners, the police, or any other regulator.
Must
Manage the area you're placed in, including the safety of visitors and camp members, your structures, and any workshops or events you run.
Must
Complete the risk assessments and answer the information requests Burning Nest sends you.
Must
Take part in the Nest Health & Safety Forum, unless the Health & Safety Link exempts you.
Must
Follow any direct instruction from the Health & Safety Link about safety or legal compliance.
Must
Make sure workshops and activities are only attended by people of a suitable age, and follow Nest's child safeguarding rules.
Must
Never charge attendees for anything. Nest is a no-commerce event.

Your camp can

Can
Restrict entry to your camp, or part of it, when there's a good reason. This doesn't apply when access is needed for safety or for running the event.
Can
Charge camp fees to your own camp members.

What Burning Nest does

  • Finds your camp a placement on site
  • Deals with the council, the site owners and other outside bodies where needed
  • Supports your camp, while expecting you to take responsibility for your own activities, in the spirit of radical self-reliance, participation and communal effort

Signing. The agreement is signed by someone on behalf of the camp and someone on behalf of Burning Nest. This page reflects the 2024 agreement.
